Abdominal Pain in Children

Abdominal Pain in Children can be difficult to diagnose. The very young cannot communicate to us and like the very old, can present very atypically.

It is good to have an approach to the child with abdominal pain.

The very young will have a different group of conditions that will affect them, including:

  • Pyloric Stenosis
  • Necrotising Enterocolitis

The Older children may present with a different set of complaints.

The diagnoses that I always thing about in children include:

  • Intussusception
  • Volvulus
  • Bowel Obstruction
  • Torsion
  • Hernia
